Caribbean medical school student
Hi! I’m a Canadian student and I just completed my first term with honours (96% average) at a “Big 4” Caribbean medical school.
A few years ago, I completed my undergrad in Life Sciences at an Ontario university. I applied to Canadian medical schools a few times but to no avail. During my gap years, I worked in the corporate world and gained some valuable real world experiences. I bought my first home with my husband, learned about filing taxes, and somehow got a great interest rate for my mortgage by doing an early renewal during COVID (didn’t even know that an early renewal was a thing). More importantly, in that time I realized that I still wanted to pursue medicine. So last year, I finally applied to a Caribbean medical school and started my first term in January 2022.
On this site, I share my experiences as a Caribbean medical school student. I want to provide meaningful insight for students who want to know if this path is right for them. I talk about admissions, scholarships, how I’m paying for my education, what the classes are like, study tips, and what’s helping me do well. There’s a lot that I’ve learned in the last few months. Things that I never heard anyone talk about and wish I had known sooner. Join me on this journey as I learn about the ins and outs of medical school and share these insights with you!
